Heklang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Tansen and lower Kali Gandaki region
Lithology and Thickness
"The Heklang Formation is made up essentially of dark gray-green slates and phyllites. When weathered, they exhibit brown and gray tints. The phyllites frequently alternate with up to 10 m thick bands, incorporating calcareous laminae. There also appear some dark brown weathering subordinate beds of calcareous sandstone, marl, and dolomite. The Heklang Formation is more than 800 m thick at its type locality (Sakai 1985, p. 346)."
